Dubai international airport has recorded a year on year rise for the first nine months of 2013, reaching 1,785,539 tonnes, up 6.6 per cent from 1,674,997 tonnes during the same period last year.

Cargo tonnage grew 1.8 per cent in September, a total of 196,823 tonnes compared to 193,261 in 2012.This follows on from a good first half of 2013, which closed with an increase of 10.2 per cent to 1,196, 894 tonnes compared to 1,086,456 during the same period in 2012.Paul Griffiths, chief executive officer of Dubai Airports says: "Passenger and cargo traffic growth continue unabated and Dubai International is on track to eclipse our projections for 65.4 million passengers and 2.7 million tonnes of cargo."Figures are expected to carry on being positive with the Dubai Airshow in November expecting to boost numbers even more for the fourth quarter of the year.
